On Thursday, March 21, Roy Reid, APR, CPRC of Consensus Communications and Ryan Houck of Citizens for Lower Taxes and a Stronger Economy presented “Thumbs-Up PR for a Thumbs Down Campaign: How “VOTE NO on 4” became a big statewide Yes,” at PRSA Orlando’s monthly luncheon program at the Citrus Club in downtown Orlando.
Reid and Houck shared case study results from "VOTE NO on 4" that shed light on how a smart and well-executed communications plan can lead to big results.

About the Presenters: Roy Reid, APR, CPRC. is a Partner at Consensus Communications. He is an award-winning strategic business and public relations expert and the author/creator of Outrageous Trust®, a program to help leaders and organizations improve relationships through a more intentional effort in building trust. His clients include Fortune 500® companies, private companies, entrepreneurs, professional service firms and public agencies. Roy works to help clients assess risk and issues within the organization and in the marketplace, and then develop strategies to manage the identified issues from the inside/out. In 2008, Roy was honored as the first individual recipient of the "Frank R. Stansberry / Public Relations Society of America Ethics Award" in recognition of his commitment to ethics in his life, profession and business. In addition, he was inducted into the University of Central Florida’s Nicholson School of Communication Hall of Fame in 2010. He is also an entrepreneur and successful business owner. He is a Certified Public Relations Counselor (CPRC) of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA). He is a regular speaker for both organizations at the local, state and national levels. He has been an officer and national delegate for PRSA, including president of the Orlando Regional Chapter in 1999.
Ryan Houck is the executive director of Citizens for Lower Taxes and a Stronger Economy. By Election Day, Ryan's organization led a statewide coalition of more than 320 partner-organizations, 30 local campaign chairmen and more than 4000 volunteers. In an historic campaign, that coalition garnered a remarkable 67 percent of the vote. In addition to a nearly 3-year focus specifically on Amendment 4, Ryan has extensive experience in grassroots development, media relations, and public affairs. Ryan has worked on numerous state and local campaigns, including the successful Mel Martinez for U.S. Senate campaign in 2004, where he served as political director. Prior to joining the "VOTE NO on 4" campaign in 2007, Ryan was a public affairs strategist for Central Florida's transportation authority, and, prior to that, served in state office of U.S. Senator Mel Martinez. Ryan is a political science graduate of Rollins College in Winter Park.
