Roy Reid Presents to the Orange County Commission on Aging's "Connecting with the Media" class | Print |

On Thursday, April 14, Consensus' Roy Reid , APR, CPRC, conducted an interactive presentation on "Who's Who in the Media," as part of the Orange County Commission on Aging's Connecting with the Media speaker series. Jessi Blakley , APR, also spoke to the group, which was comprised of leaders representing organizations and businesses that deal with aging matters and the growing elderly population in Central Florida.

 

The informative session outlined:

- How different types of media outlets work

- Who's who in the newsroom

- Lead times for different types of media outlets

- How to develop and maintain a media list

- The role of ethics when working with the media; and

- The role of ethics in public relations and business

 

Reid, the author/creator of Outrageous Trust®, a program to help leaders and organizations improve relationships through a more intentional effort in building trust, explained the value and importance of trust and relationships to the group. Susan Fernandez to Join Senator Marco Rubio’s Central Florida Staff | Print |
 After nearly sixteen years with Consensus Communications, an Orlando-based public and governmental relations firm, Susan Fernandez will become the Central Florida Regional Director for United States Senator Marco Rubio.

 

“Susan was our first employee and she has been an integral part of our success,” said Consensus Founding Partner Tre’ Evers.  “Susan will be missed tremendously, but we know that our loss is Senator Rubio’s gain.”

 

“Susan is widely known and respected in Central Florida’s business, civic and governmental communities,” said Consensus Founding Partner John Sowinski.  “Our community and our new Senator will be well served by having her in this important position.”

 

While at Consensus, Susan was an integral part of the team that has run nine successful statewide campaigns. She also served as Senator Mel Martinez’s campaign finance director from 2007-2008.

 

Susan graduated Cum Laude from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in Organizational Communication. Additionally, Susan served on the Rollins College Hamilton Holt Board of Advisors, is a graduate of Leadership Orlando and served on its Alumni Board of Directors.
